Yadgir: Rains for the past two days in the catchment areas of Narayanpur Basavasagar reservoir has increased the inflow and therefore water is being let out from the dam. A total of 9,000 cusec of water, including 6,000 cusec through the crest gates and 3,000 cusec through the hydropower unit, is being released to River Krishna. Krishna Bhagya Jal Nigam Limited dam division Executive Engineer Shankar Naykodi has appealed to the people on the banks of the river not to enter the river or let their cattle near the river. The pre-monsoon rains helped increase the inflow in Krishna catchment areas for the past few days. The Almatti Lal Bhaddur Shastry reservoir is also catching the inflow. Therefore, after maintaining the water level, which would be sufficient to supply for drinking purpose, the excess water is being let out to the river, he explained. The inflow was recorded at 8,000 cusec on Sunday. Source: Deccan Herald
