Officials launch the children's survey at Kakalwar village in Gurmatkal taluk.
Launching the survey at Kakalwar Gram Panchayat in Gurmatkal taluk of the district, she said, the high school teachers, anganwadi, and Asha workers would take up the door-to-door survey. This would help initiate the precautionary measures in the district to protect the children from the Covid-19 pandemic, she said.
She said, the teachers on the survey duty should also collect the details of disabled persons and the children who lost both the parents due to Covid.
The involvement of Gram Panchayat and the community is crucial in making this endeavor a success, she added.
The CEO said, the precautionary steps and relief measures against the Covid-19 third wave should be planned after the collection of details.
Deputy Director of Public Instructions (DDPI) Shantanagouda said, the department would co-operate and support the survey work to ensure better protection for children during the possible Covid-19 third wave.
District Health & Family Welfare Officer Indumati Kamashetty said, the third wave should not be neglected but action should be taken to face the possible problems.
Children in the age group of 0 to 14 years would be sensitive. Therefore, they should be protected before Covid hits them. During the Covid second wave, 8% of the people infected were children, but no death was reported. The infected were isolated at homes and treatment was provided, she said.
Yadgir and Gurmatkal Taluk Panchayat Executive Officer Basavaraj explained the steps to be taken by the Gram Panchayats.
